This happened around the year 2000 in Scotland and will appear in my third booklet
Chapter 28 - Freemasons at Theinstone
I had a beard and long hair.
It was springtime and the local Agricultural Spring Show was being held at the
Theinstone Cattle Market. I was walking through the stalls and came across one
which was supplying welding equipment and associated items. I had a look at
some hand grinders. The man who had the stall approached and asked if he could
help me. I said I was just having a look. Then into my head came the thought
“Oh, yes, I could be doing with some stainless steel welding rods. So I asked
if he had any. He looked at me with a little bit of a surprised expression on
his face. He said “Do you know the number of the rod?” Out of my mouth came
“316”. I myself was a little bit surprised with this but not as surprised as
the man in the stall. I said, “Do you have them?” Nearly choking on his words,
he croaked a faint “Yes” and just stood there looking at me. He is noticing my
long hair and beard – at this moment of my life my outward appearance was not at
the forefront of mind. I took £40 out of my pocket and put it down on the
table, hoping that it would be enough. He just stood there looking at me. I
asked him, “Do you have them here?” He pointed to the back of his stall and
said “They are there”. I asked if I could have them. He nodded and walked
sideways, keeping his eyes on me most of the time, with a bewildered look. He
brought back the box and set it down on the bench, gave me my change and then
said, “What are you going to do with these rods?” I said it was a science
project. He said “I would be interested
in knowing how these rods do with you.” I thought, “This must be a nice man. If
they’re not going to do well he’s going to exchange them.” He said, “Have you a
phone number?” I said “Yes” and gave him my number. He asked what area I was
from and I said “Insch”. I left with my welding rods, not giving him any more
details: no name, no address.
Two Sundays later I got a
phone call at one o’clock in the afternoon. The voice on the phone said “Hello.
Is this George?” I replied “Yes”. The voice said “This is Simon Lake. You
bought stainless steel welding rods from me at the Agricultural Spring Show at
Theinstone. He said, “Have you used the rods yet?” I replied “Yes”. He asked, “How
are they?” I said: “Good”. He replied, with a happy voice, “Oh, good”. He then
said, “I was out in the garden the other night and looked up in the sky. There
was a light crossing and as it was crossing above me I looked down at the grass
and it was waving as if there was a breeze. I looked up again and watched it
disappear. I looked down and the grass had stopped moving. This was the Stealth
bomber that had gone over”. I took the phone away from my ear, looking at it,
thinking “Who is this guy?”, and then heard him say “Have you seen anything
strange in the sky?” I replied, “Oh, I’m sorry. I can’t speak about that on the
phone”. He then said “Can I come to see you next Sunday?” I was intrigued so I
said “Yes”. He arranged the time. I agreed. Through the week, I continued with
my different chores; worked on the hydrogen engine and sometimes watched the
lights bob around in the night sky. Sunday afternoon arrived. It was just shy
of 2pm when a car came into my close. I watched him get out over his car and
come to the door of my caravan. I welcomed him in. He had a little cake with
him. I indicated, “Do you want to take a seat?” Before he sat down he said, “I
want to tell you who I am I am the head Freemason for the northeast of
Scotland. I am a mentor for the professors at Aberdeen University”. He took a
seat. I offered him a cup of tea. He accepted. We sat and chatted. He wanted to
know some details about what I was working on as in the “science project” and he wanted to speak
about UFOs. I shared some information. He then said should I need any tools,
cutting disks, anything for my project to give him a phone and he would get
them for me. He indicated that anything I need he could get. Just ask him. He
asked if he could see my project. I had indicated “Yes, when we go out”. He was
with me for about an hour and a half and it was time for him to go. I took him
to the shed. When he saw the device he said “That is very small”. Then he said,
“You need to patent this device”. I said “No”. He then replied, “What happens
if someone steals it?” I replied, “It’s no good to them if they don’t know how
it works”. He looked at me with a shocked expression realising that this was
correct. He said his goodbyes, thanked me very much saying, “We’ll keep in
touch” and left. I locked the shed, went back inside, tidied up the cups, and
as I was standing at the sink washing them, I was thinking about what had just
happened. “How did he get my name and address?” He came from a town that was
forty plus miles from me. He was from a different walk of life. Nothing here
connected for me. Over the years to come he would appear every now and again.
On one visit he demanded
that I get him on board a craft and through circumstances that he created I had
had enough of him and told him to leave and never come back. You cannot begin
to imagine what happened in the years to follow.
